Full file paths in comparison window

I know full file paths have has been brought up before but I think it is
import and there should be a reasonably
simple solution. If the widget at the top of the text window doesn't
allow this why not just add the full file spec's
under each window in the status bar. Most of the status bar is wasted
real-estate as far as I can see.
Now why do I think it's import ? It's a file comparison tool which
normally means comparing and editing files with
the same name, being able to quickly make sure you edit the correct one
is vital.
In fact it's so import as far as I am concerned I will only use the old
Meld and when that stops working will look for
a new program if the new version still doesn't have that feature.

Thanks
Royce

Hi Royce,

I've asked this in the past and got a "won't fix" reply.
Sadly, because of this missing feature I am still on Meld 1.8.3.
What you wrote is exactly my case, but you also bring an alternative
for actually displaying the filename, which is great.
I hope Kai will consider implementing this, even as a flag that is off
by default.

Thanks.

Dear all,

Note that this issue is relevant also for directory comparison. Here is
an issue to follow:
https://bugzilla.gnome.org/show_bug.cgi?id=746616
It is useful to make sure we note any constructive ideas that we come up
with on the enhancement request. Otherwise any progress will be forgotten.

Best,

Scott

Hi all;

Even the old 1.8.1 version often doesn't show the important part of the directory path (due to its length.)
Obviously absence of the path makes the tool MUCH less useful for commercial work.

Hopefully we can get past the implementation limitations and provide the needed functionality.

Adam
